I was at a client's house today and they are having the weirdest thing happen.

They have robins that are continually bashing themselves against their big windows. I mean, these birds just do it over and over and over and over again. And they're doing it so hard that they're leaving marks on the windows.

I got to witness this in person when I pulled up in their driveway.

What I was seeing in the windows when I was outside was the reflection of the trees, so I was wondering if the robins thought that there were trees there instead of windows?

But it's happening on both sides of the house and at all times of the day.

It is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen, and it was pretty damned spooky.

Any #birdwatchers out there have a clue? The Internet wasn't helpful at all. The most logical explanation it had was... rabies. I'm like, what?

The American Acclimatization Society was founded in 1871 to introduce European animals and plants into North America.

In 1890, they released one hundred European Starlings into New York’s Central Park, part of an insane plan to bring the “Birds of Shakespeare” to the New World.

Their scheme went horribly awry. Within a decade, tens of millions of invasive starlings aggressively competed for nesting cavities, causing the collapse of some native bird populations.

Nevertheless, Starlings are gorgeously iridescent, like this one, seen shimmering in Bette Davis Picnic Area.
